Life After Trump (Part One)

[It's been a while since I last blogged. Sorry to all of you out there who follow me. But I've have had my head deep up my ass during this political season.] I supported Hillary Clint0n since before she even declared her candidacy. When Bernie Sanders decided to challenge her in the primary I was very disappointed. For one thing, he only had one message: All the money is at the top. No kidding. He had a splattering of other domestic ideas like a minimum wage hike. All good progressive ideas. But c'mon man. Did he really think that he could win the primary and even if so did he really think the American people would elect a socialist? All that came of his run is divide the Democratic electorate into so-called "left" and "center-left" camps in which young people would follow him down his rabbit hole and continue to protest up to and through the convention. What a waste of time and resources. There was a lot of talk in the media about how Sanders had ...

Thanksgiving 2015

Monday, November 23, 2015. It's the Monday before I leave to visit my brother and sister-in-law in New Jersey where they live now. My plan is to stay through the 29th. I am staying in a hotel this time. I don't want a repeat of the terrible events that took place last Christmas when I visited them in New York. I fell ill at that time and instead of receiving sympathy and compassion from my Brother he became a raging maniac angry at me like it was my fault. He took away my Klonopin and my Valium thinking that I was abusing these. He thought it was because of this supposed abuse I was falling down and incontinent all the time. In fact, it had nothing to do with those drugs, not that he had any business taking them away from me. He screamed and raged at me and physically threatened me and threatened to smash my cellphone. I was terrified on top of feeling very ill. I resolved to never stay with them in their own apartment again. So this time I will be tucked safely away in my own...

My High School Reunion

Thursday July 9 2015 10:30AM . I am sitting in the SFO terminal after having checked in waiting for my flight to board. Gate 61 at 10:40AM! The checkin process was a bit of a hassle. Despite having checked in the night before online and printing my boarding pass I nevertheless had to check in again at the baggage checkin counter. It cost me $59 for what I don't know. In any event, after some waiting during which several people went ahead of me I was able to to get my duffle bag checked in. I now have a sheaf of papers one of which is my actual boarding pass. I went by a deli to get food for the flight. I bought a Coca Cola and what sounds like a nice sandwich. I plan to eat this during the flight instead of paying for food on the airplane. I have a bag with my food and drink in it and I am hoping there won't be a hassle about bringing it on the plane along with my black carry-on bag. I'm going to keep my iPad in the food bag so that I don't have to dig it out when m...

Pippin

I recently acquired a parrot. I have named him Pippin. He's a Conure, a small parrot about two times the size of a sparrow. He has a green body with a light grey chest marked by dark grey horizontal stripes. He has a long red tail and an orange belly. Although his wings are green there's a splash of blue under them. Here he is sitting on the top of my iPad:

Falling Man

From the blistering pits of Hell a voice cries out, “It is not my time yet! I am still falling. I have not come to the end of my fall. I have not ended my fall with sudden death.” And so he keeps on falling..  He is Falling Man. In the safety of his dark room Falling Man collects images of Icarus from the web. He stares at each fondly in turn. Some depict Icarus as he falls. Others depict his death on the scarred rocks below. Falling Man believes he is Icarus reborn. Like Icarus he has flown too close to the sun. His wings have melted and their straps torn unmercifully from his arms. Icarus plunges from light into the shadow below. Falling Man worships the fall of Icarus into darkness. He imagines himself making this fall. He sees the shadow into which he plummets. He lights his room with candles. He plays gloomy goth music on his stereo. The smoke of the candles and from his cigarettes fill his room. They form a cloud that drifts across the ceiling. To pay homage to his b...
